Life wise, 2019 has been 쓰레기, but in regards to seeing my favorite artists this year it's been freaking amazing. This year I was able to see countless Kpop groups as Kpop has expanded greatly in the USA and become much more accessible. So with that it was an added bonus that my top 3 favorite Japanese artists have increased their accessibility and making multiple stops in America as well!

You all know I'm THE FIREBIRD aka Miyavi's biggest fan as well as a huge BabyMetal fan. I'm also an Agent: the fan club name of FEMM, Far East Mention Mannequins! They came to Con Alt Delete this weekend in Chicago and I was ecstatic about finally being able to see these ladies!

So you might be thinking, how are they mannequins? We'll since mannequins can't talk, they have agent representatives who speak on their behalf: Honey-B for Riri and W-Trouble for Lula. They only move as mannequins because THEY ARE MANNEQUINS and also have various staff at times carry them onto the stage and move their limbs to prepare them for the song. Super cool right?

I started following them in 2014 when they released Fxxk Boys Get Money which represented being about your money and not worrying about men! It went viral then and became known for their cute mannequin twerking!

From then to now, I've followed Riri and Lula's fun electronic dance songs and expressive videos. I really enjoyed their activism with Dance is not a Crime, a campaign in protest of Japan's Businesses Affecting Public Morals Regulation Act that enacted the clubs would close at midnight and prohibited people from dancing within 66 meters (a little over 200 ft) from night clubs after a certain cut off time. Thankfully in 2016 the ban was lifted.

They have banging songs, stylish outfits, creative videos and are active activist? How can one NOT stan? I also want to share some of my favorite songs from their discography for those that want to check them out!!

Their performance was so awesome. Honestly I started to tear up a little because I was so happy I finally able to see them after being a fan for so long. They signed 3 of my post cards which I was surprised at because I thought they only sign one. I got one for a friend who couldn't come so I know he'll be happy.

Check out FEMM and their awesome work!

Hello everyone,

I'm so excited to introduce the FIRST Daiso in the Midwest, Hello Tokyo!

Hello Tokyo, located in Chicagoland, has the largest selection of kawaii Japanese Daiso products in the Midwest with most items only being $2! I was able to get a first look before their grand opening to check out the store and speak to the owner Jin on the creation of Hello Tokyo and its future.

Monster rookie Ateez have chosen to grace us again with their grandness and allow us Atiny's to choose their new single!

How awesome is that huh?

They showcased 2 singles: a hop hop/pop jam titled Illusion and an energetic summer anthem titled Wave.

I teeter totter between the two but in the end I gave the majority of my votes to Illusion. But both tracks are amazing! Though I did hear that KQ Entertainment might actually choose a surprise 3rd single (that might be titled Euphoria.) :D

Cast your vote now! It ends soon!

1) Leader Hongjoong's skills

I adore Miyavi. No, more than adore...Love...stan...stan hard. For those that know me, they know I am hardcore Miyavi. I've seen him every year since 2017 (but been a fan since 2013) and got to meet him twice. Some of you all might be thinking, well dang April, what happened to Rain? Well, he's the foundation of everything and I will always love him but music wise, he's kind of paused on creating modern, enjoyable music. Miyavi on the other hand continually reinvents himself all while looking like Zaddy! (I have 4 main biases but Miyavi is the head honcho bias. Try and keep up folks!)

Let me stap.

When thinking about Kpop Fashion and the boundaries it pushes, no one comes to mind more that Lee Taemin. If it's from his bubbly promotions with SHINee or his myraid noir inspired solo ventures, Taemin continually pushes what we know as STYLE. So in appreciation of his sharp and dynamic style I will share my Top 5 Favorite looks that Taemin has graced us with over the last couple of years. Let me know if you agree with the list in the comments!

July 2021 Update: Jimin was mentioned during a Hot Topic segments on the controversial Oli London. If you don't know who he is (but I'm sure everyone does by now) he's a English internet personality that went through countless plastic surgery's to look like Jimin. He also recently announced his pronouns will be Kor/ean and Jimin. Whatever that means! *insert eye roll
I'm a huge fan of Wendy Williams!
Though I'm only able to watch on YouTube because I work during the day, I faithfully wait with bated breath for the newest upload. So to finally hear a Kpop group mentioned on her show was right up my ally. For some time I've anticipated her casually mentioning something pertaining to Kpop but to no avail. And now finally, Wendy has shared her thoughts about BTS!

The guys showed up during the Hot 5 segment in which a celebrity news critic shares what's currently trending in pop culture.

NCT 127 is one of my absolute favorite boy groups right now. They give their all with every performance and each comeback from them gets bigger and better. They just recently announced their newest comeback this month with the title "We are Superhumans."

Wow, does this mean we're going to get some extraordinary material from them? I hope so.

So in celebration of their comeback and forthcoming tour, The Neo City: The Origin World Tour (which I'll be attending in Chicago) I wanted to share my top 4 favorite looks from the group. It's so hard because they slay when they're on or off the stage but I will try and manage to pick a few out. :)

The boys of NCT 127 are ready to take America by storm again with their new world tour and of course that means stopping by staple American TV shows like GMA and Strahan and Sara.
